| Thallus minute, granular or hairy, amorphous, often disappearing, greyish; prothallus absent. Squamules rare, 0.5–1 mm wide, flattened-lobulate, covered in long, white, silky hairs, glaucous grey. Cephalodia not seen. Apothecia prominent, 1–2 mm wide, round, scattered, ±deeply cupuliform; disc matt, smooth, continuous, epruinose, without etching, fissures or thalline lobules, red-brown; margins crenate, thick, pale buff or greyish, with dense, long, silky, white hairs. Ascospores 16–21 × 9–14 µm. | ||
| A characteristic grassland species often growing on dead tussock bases and plant detritus. Apparently rare in Qld and southern N.S.W. Known also from New Zealand, the subantarctic islands and South America. | ||
